Last day of Unhinged Spring Break. No excursions, hikes, or crazy adventures today. Just packing up and doing some cleaning in the morning. Toots lost her AirPods so we also spent 15 minutes searching the main house and guest/trap house for those. They were in her bed. The rooster, chickens, and chicks ate like kings as they got all the left over bread, chips, and granola tossed their way.
The drive to the airport was rainy but uneventful, which is probably good. We all had the same 10:45am flight out of SJU to MCO. In Orlando the Wilson and Marcus families were able to relax and wait for their next flight which was to STL. The Schmidts for some reason booked an earlier flight out of Orlando. To Raleigh. And then to STL. They eventually made it back to Glen Carbon. Classic Kitty and Dick.
Speaking of Kitty, she was a bit flustered in Orlando as everyone was laughing and enjoying going through all the pictures in the shared photo album that was created for everyone to upload and share all their pictures and memories of the amazing trip. Except the shared album wasn’t showing up for Kitty on her iPhone. Some quick technology troubleshooting from Moose not only got her access to the Unhinged Spring Break shared photo album, but every shared photo album that she had ever been invited to but never was able to join popped up too – going back at least 5 years. I’m sure she will be busy the next few days reviewing all the pics she missed from Snowmass, Park City, Six Flags, Boston, and many more.
There was one let down on our final day. After talking a big game, Bobby Newport did NOT stock up on alcohol and cigs in the San Juan duty free store like he had planned. I’m not sure if the prices weren’t to his liking, the selection of booze and smokes didn’t have what he was looking for, or the death stares from Queen Bee that wordlessly said “you can buy all you want but it’s going in the trash when we get home” was the ultimate deterrent for him.
The Unhinged Spring Break website will soon be updated with new testimonials from this year’s lucky group of attendees. Everyone had a different favorite moment and for some it was really hard to decide on just one thing that was their favorite part of the trip. Everyone did unanimously agree, however, that the “No Crybaby Bitches” rule was very important.
And lastly, as you all know, not only was it possible to go on Unhinged Spring Break and have the adventure of a lifetime. But it was also possible to win Unhinged Spring Break. It was close and the competition was fierce. The scoring system was tough to crack at first for many but by the end of the week almost everyone knew what could get points added to their total or worse, points taken away.
It was a tight race at the end but the lead one individual built with their gambling, drinking, and “I’m just here to have a good time” attitude were too much to overcome.
Congrats to Bobby Newport! He’s our 2025 Unhinged Spring Break Champion. Please let me know your t-shirt size and if you prefer the original Newports or the Newport Lights.

Planning for next year’s trip has already begun. Past participants will get access to the ticket pre-sale event first and general admission will be available at a later date but please remember – No Crybaby Bitches!
