Puerto Rico Day 3 Recap

The Orange Theory gang was back at it this morning with Kitty joining and stealing some local’s mat during class. Everyone met up for smoothies again afterwards too.

Check out of the hotels was at 11am so everyone went back and cleaned up and packed up and then drove down to Old San Juan for the day. I am obligated at this point to mention that Kitty was NOT the last one to arrive.

Lots of eating, exploring, shopping and, of course, drinking in the oldest city in the United States. Brunch was at Kaffe Haus where a waitress fell, Bobcat jumped up to help, then made a plea for deserving points for it. It was a pathetic display and he unfortunately moved down the leaderboard.

Bobby Newport, Chief, Cipher, Honey Badger, and Toots went exploring. They headed back to Castillo San Felipe del Morro to watch the kites flying and explored the Spanish Fort.

Queen B, Kitty, and Trudy went shopping and apparently Old San Juan is a hot spot for customized hats.

Bobcat, Dick, Coco, and Moose made their way to La Taberna Lúpulo and enjoyed many local beers and learning the stories behind them. Points were increasing for all as memories for a lifetime were being made and the scoring generosity seemed to go up proportionally to the amount of IPAs Moose enjoyed.

Eventually everyone made their way back to the bar but the peer pressure from the newly formed ladies hat gang was too much for Coco to resist so they went back to get her a hat too.

Dinner was at La Ó which was delicious. After dinner, it was decided to make one more stop in Old San Juan for gelato before hitting the road to Pancho’s Paradise. It was at that point Kitty asked Dick for her bags. The bags she set down in the bar we were at hours ago and claims to have told Dick to watch. Dick did not have said bags, so off they went back to the bar to get the bags they left sitting there on the floor when we had left. Classic Kitty and Dick.

Finally we were off to Pancho’s Paradise with one quick stop at a Walmart for groceries and supplies. How was the Walmart in Caguas, Puerto Rico you ask? Imagine the Glen Carbon Walmart, no, make it the Collinsville Walmart. Now imagine it even dirtier, the aisles narrower, more disorganized and somehow having 3 times as many people packed in it even though it is 8pm on a Monday night. So that was fun.

But we got groceries and beer for Bobby Newport and then took crazy, winding mountain roads for the next 20 minutes to get to our final destination. We arrived and the kids immediately claimed the guest house as theirs and were in the pool before the rest of us had even unloaded the cars.

It was already dark when we arrived so no pictures have been sent yet but we are definitely in the rainforest with all the sounds you can imagine.
